Single Review – The Heavy North – Where Are You Now?

You know your onto something great when the buzz around releasing your new single is at tinnitus noise levels. Many bands had this, The Smiths, Oasis for sure and certainly that beat combo from Merseyside whose name escapes me…fans literally counting down the days until new music hits the airwaves.

So it’s testament to The Heavy North that this new single, the first from their second album is having that same impact from their ever growing fanbase built up from hard work, gigging and being true masters of their art.

But what does it sound like and is it any good?

I’ll quickly lay any doubts to one side and tell you it’s good, it’s really good, like really good.

As an introduction into where the lads are taking their sound, it opens up so many different pathway’s whilst keeping the bits that made us love them in the first instance intact. This is no alienate the fanbase track, this is a you’re all coming on this magic carpet ride with us, so get onboard.

Kicking of with a groovy riff n funky drums the track flies along with Kenny’s vocals coming on like a sexy Jack Bruce from Cream. The track has that late 60s feel to it but is also reminiscent of mid 90s psych rockers Kula Shaker which is no bad thing to these ears.

It’s catchy as hell and certainly one to get you dancing on the sticky dancefloor too.

Kenny asks us Where are we now? Well we are here with you and we aren’t going anywhere soon that’s for sure.

And then just like that, at under 2 minutes 30 secs it stops and you’re left wanting more, but for now we’re all going to have to wait.

So the boys are back in town and this single will sound great live, so make sure you get a ticket at the venues linked below.

Where are you now is released this Friday so presave it and let’s get down to business.
