Jangle-Mod…is that a thing?
If it is then Lunar Towers are the current kings of that castle (Tower)?
I’ve been interested in the band ever since I heard their excellent E.P. Released on the Uber Cool Colorama records last year. The E.P. – Hurry Up and Wait was a perfect mix of classic indie jangle but with more than a sprinkle of Mod and Weller type vibes…it’s an accomplished set of songs from the groovesome foursome from Cheltenham and London and like many new bands were able to hone their sound during the lockdown years.
This new single About Time takes the seeds of this sound and supercharges it into a blistering track with a driving riff which wastes no time getting into your head from the off. It has all the classic hall marks or indie jangle, whispered vocals and layered guitars part Ride, Part Dinosaur Jr but also sounds fresh and polished with a great production throughout. In short its cooler then a Paul Weller haircut circa 1993.
This is a band that know how to write a great melody and I’m sure About Time will see them reach more new listeners and make new friends along the way.
